What's new

Every release, newest first.

1.6.10

Dark mode and appearance preferences

Choose light, dark, or system appearance and keep your preference across devices.

Appearance

You can now choose light, dark, or system appearance in General settings on web, desktop, and mobile. Your calendars, colored headings, rich text, dialogs, and navigation adapt to the selected mode.

  • System is the default and follows changes in your device's appearance.
  • Your signed-in account's choice applies across your devices.
  • Local choices stay on this device, including when you use a workspace without an account.
  • Offline account choices are saved and synced when you reconnect.
  • Desktop title bars and mobile status bars follow your selected mode.
1.6.9

Action sorting, reliable workspace opening, and update progress

Choose how actions are ordered, open saved workspaces reliably, and follow desktop updates as they download.

Action sorting

You can choose how actions are ordered in project and category detail pages on desktop, web, and mobile. Each page remembers your choice on this device.

  • Sort actions by manual order, stars, calculated priority, deadline, title, or when they were created or updated.
  • Choose ascending or descending order while keeping subactions beneath their parents.
  • Give project actions a priority number from 1 to 99, with 1 highest, and sort the project by those numbers.
  • Save, change, or clear a priority number directly from the action row.

Desktop updates

You can follow an update from the first check through downloading and installation in Settings.

  • Check for updates shows a spinner while checking, downloading, and installing.
  • A download progress bar shows the percentage when the download size is available, or an animated indicator while the size is unknown.
  • The update status confirms when you are up to date, offers a retry after a failed check, and lets you restart when an update is ready.
  • Open the changelog in a new browser tab directly from the Updates section.
  • Fixed Saved workspaces open reliably from the workspace picker after updating, including downloaded workspaces and those with saved sync receipts.
  • Improved Sync indicators show when a workspace is connecting, receiving changes, or sending edits, and confirm when it is up to date.
  • Fixed The Devices page shows the current device, its platform, and live connection status more accurately.
1.6.8

Smoother resizing and clearer link previews

Resize the desktop sidebar more smoothly and share the main site with a clear title and description.

  • Fixed Resizing the left sidebar on desktop is smoother and remembers its final width when you release the handle.
  • Fixed Interrupted sidebar resizing restores the normal cursor and selection behavior when the app loses focus or the sidebar closes.
  • Improved Links to the main site include a clear title and description when shared on social platforms, including Twitter.
1.6.7

Reliable sign-in and safer account switching

Sign in reliably and change accounts while keeping your local workspaces, drafts, and saved data.

  • Fixed Desktop sign-in no longer returns to the sign-in screen when the app still holds an older rejected session.
  • Fixed A new sign-in takes priority over renewing a previous account connection. Switching accounts still asks for confirmation before changing the existing workspace.
  • Fixed Signing out while viewing an older workspace keeps its saved data and unfinished work on this device. Your other downloaded workspaces are kept too.
  • Fixed Changing accounts for saved workspaces requires signing out of the current account first, even when its session has expired. Local-only workspaces stay independent of either account.
  • Fixed An interrupted sign-in save keeps sync stopped after restarting the app and lets you retry without losing local work.
  • Fixed The account menu shows the correct sign-in or sign-out action while using a local workspace.
1.6.6

Device sessions, mobile Logbook and calendar search

Stay signed in across devices, browse mobile Logbook history more easily, search calendar subjects and manage sync access with clearer billing controls.

Account connection

Desktop and mobile sessions renew automatically, and you can restore your account connection inside the app.

  • Desktop, iOS and Android renew account access regularly while you use the app. A renewable session lasts up to six months away from the app.
  • Use Sign in again in Account settings to restore your account connection without signing out or changing the current workspace.
  • Connection failures preserve saved credentials and local work. The app retries renewal when you return or reconnect.

Mobile

You can move between mobile screens more smoothly, browse Logbook history as you need it and type more reliably on Android.

  • Action lists do less repeated work, and hidden tabs pause updates until you return while keeping their screen state.
  • Closed sheets avoid unnecessary animations, while opening and closing keep their normal transitions.
  • Sidebar links close the drawer before opening a screen, including perspectives, categories and projects.
  • Logbook opens with the past seven days and loads older entries in batches as you scroll or tap Load older entries.
  • Search finds entries across your complete local Logbook history, including entries outside the current date window.
  • Android keeps focused inputs above the keyboard when editors open or their layout changes.
  • The landing and download pages include direct links to the Android app on Google Play.
  • Mobile session renewal works reliably on iOS and Android.

Calendar

You can search the calendar's What field to find the subject you want to link to an event.

  • Type to filter subjects, then choose a result with a click or the arrow keys and Enter.
  • Escape or leaving the field restores your current selection without saving a search as an event change.

Sync and billing

We have made sync recovery more reliable and added clearer controls for your sync plan and unfinished checkouts.

  • Sync resumes after server restarts and reconnects, including saved holds caused by equivalent UTC timestamp formats.
  • An individual rejected change no longer blocks unrelated work from syncing; retained changes remain available in recovery exports.
  • Workspace lists, billing status and privacy settings refresh when your account changes, with fewer repeated background requests.
  • You can continue or safely cancel an unfinished checkout after reloading the Billing page, including cleanup when new purchases are unavailable.
  • Monthly and annual plan cards show prices, annual savings and the sync benefits included.
  • Billing shows complimentary sync access with its actual expiry date, or No expiry for permanent grants.
  • Improved Platform accounts show sync access and recorded lifetime GBP sync payments, with a link to each account's billing details.
  • Improved Platform accounts use a clear None label when an account has no sync subscription.
  • Fixed Review template repairs notify connected devices after their changes are committed.
  • Improved We have updated server dependencies and API definitions, and kept change notifications working with those updates.
  • Improved Release checks handle CI toolchain metadata and snapshot reply timing more reliably.
  • Improved Desktop releases use the manual release workflow; automatic CI checks, desktop checks and sync acceptance workflows are paused.
1.6.5

Mobile and macOS update checks

We have verified mobile update continuity and signed macOS installs and updates.

App updates

We have checked that app updates preserve your work and that signed macOS builds install and launch successfully.

  • Verified that iOS and Android updates retain your sign-in, vaults and saved edits in simulator and emulator checks.
  • Verified signed macOS installation, update signature checks and startup after an update on Apple Silicon.
1.6.4

Sync recovery and storage cleanup

Your vaults keep syncing through reconnects and restarts, with completed history cleaned up while pending edits and recovery data are preserved.

Sync and recovery

We have strengthened sync recovery across reconnects and app restarts. Your saved edits remain available while the app catches up with your other devices.

  • Keep pending edits and recovery copies when completed sync history is cleaned up.
  • Resume syncing after restarting the app.
  • Keep open drafts safe when an app update is ready.
1.6.3

Personal vaults, safer reconnect, and Personal Sync

You can now keep separate personal vaults, reconnect with your offline work preserved, and use one Personal Sync subscription across your devices.

Personal vaults

You can now keep separate vaults for different parts of your life and switch between them from the sidebar or Settings. Local vaults work without an account. When you enable sync, your account can keep several personal vaults available across your devices.

  • Create a local vault, publish it to your account, or download a vault you own.
  • Keep several vaults syncing while you work in another.
  • Disconnect one vault and continue editing it offline.
  • Signing in or restoring a subscription keeps your disconnected vaults off until you reconnect them.

Reconnect and recovery

We have made reconnect preserve your saved offline edits and recovery copies. Changes to separate supported fields combine automatically. Simple competing field edits follow the order accepted by the server, with the earlier versions kept in recovery material. Notes, deletions and changes to linked records can still need your review.

  • Sequential settings and onboarding changes sync together across devices.
  • Interrupted sync resumes with pending work and recovery material retained.
  • Export a recovery copy containing local work and retained alternatives.
  • On desktop, save a verified recovery copy and reveal its location without relying on the Save As dialog.
  • Recover older local data into a separate vault while retaining the original source.

Personal Sync

Local workspaces and app features remain free. Try personal sync for 60 days from your first successful sync activation, with no card required. One account subscription covers all your owned personal workspaces at £4.99/month or £39.99/year. Existing purchases, promises and grants are honoured separately.

  • Choose monthly or annual sync and manage your subscription on the website.
  • Redeem an eligible promotion code at checkout, including a 100% discount that keeps sync active for its covered subscription periods.
  • Plan changes take effect at the next billing boundary.
  • A failed renewal has a seven-day grace period before sync pauses.
  • If access expires, your local work, queued edits and cloud recovery remain available.
  • The phone app shows your account sync status and refreshes it when you return.
  • Improved Workspace actions in the first-run guide are grouped together, and long account names fit in the menu.
  • Fixed Saved quick-capture drafts remain available after restarting your device.
  • Fixed Desktop sync keeps the resources it needs after an app update.
1.6.2

Typing on your phone, every review in one list, and a tidier phone app

You can now see what you type on your phone above the keyboard, find every review you start in the Reviews list, and reach every button and menu item in the phone app.

Typing on your phone

We have made the Android app move your screen up when the keyboard opens, so the line you are typing stays in view.

  • Add action scrolls to the new action, opens it for typing and brings up the keyboard.
  • The editor's formatting buttons sit at the top of the screen and wrap, so you can reach all of them.
  • Sheets and the sign-in screen stay above the keyboard.

Reviews

Every review you start now appears in the Reviews list on the web, the desktop app and your phone, so you can open it again later.

  • Recent reviews in the command palette include the ones you started from a review type.
  • On your phone, a review shows its name and date at the top, with clear Back, Next and Finish buttons.
  • Section progress shows as an icon, and long labels wrap onto the next line.

Phone app

We have gone through the phone app screen by screen so that titles, buttons and menus fit and are easy to tap.

  • Headers keep their buttons clear of the title, and project, goal and habit pages show the name on a second line.
  • The calendar's day arrows, Today and settings sit beside the month.
  • Long menus and pick lists scroll, so every item is within reach.
  • An action's minutes, weekly and deadline controls are easier to read and to tap.
  • The menu has a close button and taller rows.
  • Improved Deleting a logbook entry, a note or an experiment on your phone asks you first.
  • Improved Logbook days on your phone read Today, Yesterday or the date, and follow your own time zone.
  • Improved A project's importance can be changed from its page on your phone.
  • Fixed The calendar on your phone shows the first hour in full and keeps short events readable.
  • Fixed The offline banner on your phone sits directly above the header.
  • Fixed Weekly habit stats and countdown colours on your phone display correctly.
1.6.1

The calendar on your phone, your choice of logo, and edits kept on reload

You can now plan your days on a calendar on your phone, pick the logo the app uses on every device, and trust that a change made just before closing the page is kept.

Calendar on your phone

We have brought the calendar to the phone app. You see one day at a time, swipe left and right to move between days, and block out time with your thumb. Everything you plan on your phone is the same calendar you see on the web and desktop.

  • Tap empty time to add a block, using the project, goal or habit you picked from the brush bar.
  • Press and hold a block to move it, or pull its bottom edge to make it longer or shorter.
  • Jump to any day from the week strip, or with the arrows in the header.
  • Open a block to edit its title, notes, time, calendar and repeat, with the same choices as on the web.
  • Undo a change from the bar that appears after it.
  • Manage your calendars, trips and time zones from the calendar's settings.
  • When your phone changes time zone, the calendar asks whether to show your days in the new one.

Account menu

  • The version you are running now sits beside your sync status.
  • On the web, Download Desktop takes you to the desktop app for Mac, Windows and Linux.
  • In the desktop app, Open on web opens Sirius Focus in your browser.
  • Improved Calendar blocks load faster when you have many one-off events.
  • Improved The calendar sidebar lists your calendars above the paint brushes.
  • Fixed A change you make just before closing or reloading the page is kept and still reaches your other devices.
  • Fixed After signing out on the web, signing back in takes you straight into the app.
  • Fixed Habit blocks on the calendar have a solid fill, so the hour lines no longer show through them.
  • Fixed Error messages in Settings now read as plain sentences.
  • Fixed The Devices page shows what went wrong instead of loading forever when it cannot reach the server.
1.6.0

A week calendar, reviews that sync safely, and safer sign-out

You can now plan your week on a calendar on the web and desktop, run your morning, evening and weekly reviews from any device without losing an answer, and sign out knowing nothing unsaved is left behind.

Calendar

We have added a week calendar on the web and desktop. Drag down the grid to block out time for a project, goal or habit, and see at a glance where your week is going. Each block takes the colour of what it is for, with a stripe showing which calendar it belongs to.

  • Click an empty slot to add an hour, or drag to choose the length.
  • Drag a block to move it, or pull its bottom edge to make it longer or shorter.
  • Pick a project, goal or habit in the sidebar before you paint, and each block is linked to it.
  • Make a block repeat, and choose whether a change applies to one day, that day onward, or every repeat.
  • Keep several calendars, and show, hide, rename, recolour or delete each one from the sidebar.
  • Open a block to edit its title, notes, time and repeat in the panel beside the grid.
  • Copy a block and paste it wherever your pointer is, or press Delete to remove the selected one.
  • Plan a trip and the calendar shows your days in that time zone, and offers to switch when you land somewhere new.
  • The calendar opens on today, scrolled to the current time.
  • Every calendar change can be undone.

Reviews

We have rebuilt reviews so your morning, evening and weekly reviews work the same on every device. If you answer the same review on your phone and your computer before they sync, you now see both answers side by side and choose which to keep.

  • Start any review from the same list on the web and on your phone.
  • A review you leave halfway keeps your answers, and picks up where you stopped.

Signing out

Signing out now always asks you to confirm, and tells you if any changes on this device have not reached the server yet. You can sign out as soon as they finish sending, and if you are offline you can wait until you reconnect or choose to sign out anyway.

  • Signing out on the web clears your data from that browser.
  • On your phone, the sign-out screen stays up to date while changes finish sending.

Privacy

New accounts now start with usage analytics and error reporting turned on, and you can turn either off at any time under Settings, Privacy. If you already have an account, your current choice stays exactly as you set it. We have updated the privacy policy to match.

  • Added You can open Settings from the command palette.
  • Improved Every email we send now has the same clean, branded look.
  • Fixed Keyboard shortcuts like Cmd+C no longer trigger single-key list commands.
  • Fixed Settings stays open when you turn on a feature that needs setting up.
  • Fixed Signing in from an email link works reliably, including when the page reloads part-way.
  • Fixed Accounts created from an email link now get the morning, evening and weekly reviews.
  • Fixed Deleting your account works for every account.
1.5.0

Usage analytics, error reporting, and your devices

You can now turn on usage analytics and error reporting under Settings, Privacy to help us see what's working, and see and manage every device signed in to your account under Settings, Devices.

Privacy controls

We have added two settings under Settings, Privacy, both off until you turn them on. Usage analytics lets us see which features get used, such as completing an action or finishing a review, along with your app version and operating-system family. Error reporting sends us a report when something breaks, so we can fix it. Neither includes what you write, your search terms, or your location, and you can turn either off at any time without affecting anything else in the app.

  • Nothing is collected until you turn a setting on, and nothing from before you turned it on is included.
  • Usage analytics records are kept for 90 days; error reports for 30.
  • We have updated the privacy policy to describe exactly what each setting records and how long it is kept.

Devices

You can now see every browser and app you are signed in on, under Settings, Devices, and rename one, sign one out, or sign out everywhere at once if something looks unfamiliar.

  • Each device shows its operating system, app version, and when it last connected.
  • An Update available badge appears next to a device when a newer compatible release is out.
  • Changing your password now signs out every device, including the one you are on.
  • Resetting a forgotten password signs out every other device, but keeps you signed in on the device you used to reset it.
1.4.0

Habit scores, as a percentage

Every habit's number is now a percentage that shows how consistently you have kept it lately, computed fresh from your whole history rather than carried forward day to day.

Habit scores

We have changed what a habit's number means. It is now a percentage from 0 to 100 that shows how consistently you have kept the habit lately, instead of a score that started at 100 and could run into the thousands. Every chart is redrawn the day this ships, using your full history, so it reads correctly from your very first day rather than starting over.

  • A kept day and a missed day move the number by the same amount, in opposite directions, so one bad day does not undo weeks of showing up.
  • A perfect first week reads 30%, not 100%, because a week is not much evidence yet. Keep going and the number climbs toward 100% without ever quite reaching it.
  • The Habits overview number works the same way, showing how much of each day's habits you actually did.
  • Changing a habit's target only affects today and tomorrow. Days you already logged keep the target that was in force when you logged them, so raising a target later does not rewrite your history.
  • Added Creating a weekly habit on the web now asks how many times a week, the same as on your phone.
  • Improved Creating a habit no longer asks for a starting value, since every habit's score always starts at zero.
  • Fixed Pausing a habit from your phone now holds its days the same way pausing it on the web does.
1.3.0

The phone app catches up, and projects can be archived

Your phone now does what the web does, from perspectives and reviews to rich text, tags and missions, and on both you can archive a finished project instead of leaving it in the way.

The phone app

We have brought the phone app level with the web. Your lists, reviews, notes, tags and settings now work the same way on both, and what you change on one shows up on the other.

  • Every action list is a perspective, with the web's Filter, Arrange and View controls, and you can save a tuned list as a perspective of its own.
  • The tab bar is Inbox, Today and Reviews. Every other perspective and page is in the drawer, and a page you have switched off is not there.
  • The app opens on your account's starting screen, and you can set your time zone from Settings.
  • Morning, daily and weekly reviews are the same documents as on the web, with their sections, tick lists and signals.
  • Notes, reviews and logbook entries show their formatting, and you can tick a checklist without opening the editor.
  • The editor has a checklist button, saves what you typed when you switch apps, and reopens on what you last wrote.
  • Each logbook entry has a menu with Copy, Edit and Delete. Copy gives you the entry as Markdown.
  • Evidence notes keep their formatting when you edit them on your phone.
  • Review mode walks your categories and projects, lets you mark each one reviewed, and offers to capture a project where the thought arrives.
  • You can turn an action into a project, answering the three questions as you go, or into a goal.
  • The user menu shows your sync status and any rejected writes, and the command palette creates goals, projects, experiments, categories, log entries and reviews, and jumps to an action on the page it lives on.
  • Missions show your progress from the drawer, in step with the web.
  • Project and category pages follow the web's layout, and tapping a linked category, goal or project opens it.
  • Tags come in the same twelve colours as on the web, picked from the same panel, and show on a row as coloured chips.
  • Settings covers feature switches, row controls, perspectives, power questions, tags, your time zone and sync.

Project archive

You can now archive a project. Finishing one no longer hides it, so a done project stays where you can see it until you put it away, and putting it away asks what to do with anything still open in it.

  • Choosing Done or Cancelled offers to archive the project, and you can keep it visible instead.
  • Archive or unarchive a project from its page, or from the pane menu on the web.
  • If the project still has open actions, you choose whether to mark them done or archive them with it.
  • An archived project leaves the sidebar, search and every picker. Show archived on the Projects list brings it back.
  • Improved The star, minutes, deadline, this week and projects are called by one name everywhere, on both apps.
  • Improved On your phone, every icon sits on one scale and matches the web's picture for the same thing.
  • Fixed Undo reverses everything an action did on the server, not only the first step.
  • Fixed On your phone, a checklist you ticked in a read view is what the editor opens on.
  • Fixed On your phone, the phone's edits and the server's echoes no longer overwrite each other in a list.
  • Fixed On your phone, completing a card on a board files it in the done column, and you watch it move there.
  • Fixed On your phone, a screen you come back to shows only open actions. A row you ticked stays only while you are on that screen.
  • Fixed On your phone, the screen title sits beside the menu instead of running under the header icons, and a project's or category's own actions no longer repeat the page's name above every row.
1.2.2

Tag colours, tags on board cards, and sync fixes

You can now give a tag one of twelve colours, see your tags on board cards, and clear a sync error that will not go away on its own.

  • Added Tags come in twelve colours, picked from a grid in the tag menu.
  • Added Board cards show their tags on a row of their own, under the card's controls.
  • Added You can discard a sync error that will not clear, from the app or from your phone's sync screen.
  • Added The Corrections list in your morning review carries a done tick, so you can tick off something you did but never marked.
  • Improved A tag is a coloured chip everywhere it appears, instead of a grey pill with a small dot on it.
  • Improved Settings, Tags gives each tag one colour button and shows how the tag will look.
  • Improved The tag menu lists your tags as the chips they are, and scrolls once you have a lot of them.
  • Improved Your phone fetches a new version as soon as the server has one.
  • Fixed Tags you already had keep a matching colour in the new palette.
  • Fixed An older build keeps syncing when a newer one adds something it does not know about.
  • Fixed On your phone, edits you have made survive what arrives from the server.
  • Fixed On your phone, a row you created stops showing twice once the server confirms it.
1.2.1

Learning the app, projects from the review, and small fixes

You can now learn the whole method from a guide on your own first project, create projects and turn actions into projects without leaving a review, and tick off avoided actions you have already done.

Learning the app

We have rewritten every guide so each card names one thing, says what it is in two sentences, and tells you which control to use. A new Projects guide opens on the first project you make in setup and walks you through the result, the purpose, the plan, minutes and the star, deadlines and people, and dropping what does not matter.

  • The Actions guide now explains Today, Weekly, the board and skipping.
  • The Reviews guide covers the morning, evening and weekly reviews, and the weekly pass over every project in review mode.
  • The Help panel and the first wiki entry describe the whole loop in one place.
  • Missions run in the order you will use them, starting with Plan your week.

Also in this release

  • Added Every category in a review now ends with a form to add a project right there, and ⌘↵ keeps the form open for the next one.
  • Added An action's menu in a review offers Turn into a project, which keeps its sub-actions as the project's actions.
  • Added Avoided actions in the weekly triage and the morning review carry a done tick, so you can tick off what you have already finished without the list moving under you.
  • Improved Pressing e on an action opens its time estimate with the number selected, so typing replaces it.
  • Improved The changelog page has a menu of its releases and a link back to the landing page.
  • Fixed Relaunch on the update notice now lands on the new build the first time.
  • Fixed Unfiled projects appear under the Inbox in the category tree.
  • Fixed Changes you make offline are sent as soon as the connection is back, without waiting for your next edit.
  • Fixed Text you are still typing keeps your latest words while it syncs, rather than showing an older copy from the server.
  • Fixed Reopening a field shows what you last wrote in it.
  • Fixed The update notice waits until you close the editor, and a reload keeps the last few words you typed.
  • Fixed Menus on a phone stay open while the on-screen keyboard is up.
1.2.0

Guided setup, checklists everywhere, and roomier pane headers

New accounts get a guided setup, you can write checklists anywhere you write text, and pane controls stay in the header instead of hiding in a menu.

Setting up

New accounts now get a guided setup that walks you through your categories, your goals and a first project before the workspace opens. You are building your real system as you go, using the same fields and controls you will use every day.

  • Every step explains what it is asking for, so you are never staring at an empty box.
  • One click fills the form with an example you can edit or replace.
  • Your goal picks its category, and the project step remembers it.
  • You can go back to any step, and it reopens where you left off.
  • Missions take over once you are in the workspace.

Missions and next steps

You can now close the missions and next steps panels. Nothing is lost: a sidebar button shows how many are left and brings them back whenever you want.

  • Missions are in Help too, so you can still find them once the button is gone.
  • Missions pause while a tour is running, so you are only ever taught one thing at a time.

Checklists

You can now write checklists anywhere you write text. Type “- [ ]” at the start of a line or click the checklist button in the toolbar, then tick items off as you go.

  • Tick boxes straight from the page, with no need to open the editor: logbook entries, action notes, detail fields and experiment evidence.
  • Copy an entry as markdown and the checkboxes come with it.

Pane headers

We have reworked pane headers so your controls stay visible instead of hiding behind a menu. Panes now adapt to the width they actually have.

  • Arrange and View sit in the header on every pane except the calendar.
  • The calendar header is around half the size it was, with a smaller paint picker and a single date control.
  • Labels shrink before any button disappears.
  • Making a pane wider never takes controls away.

Detail pages

We have redesigned the category, goal and project pages to be more compact and easier to scan. Linked items are now a single row with a status icon you click to change, instead of a boxed panel around one line of text.

  • Click a linked item to peek at its page without losing your place.
  • A category's projects can open all at once or one at a time, set in the View menu.
  • Each project shows how many actions it still has open.
  • Section headings tell you how many items they hold.
  • Switching a page's actions between list and board is now two small icons.
  • Time totals appear once you have estimated something.

Reviews

Turning on review mode for projects and categories now brings up a modal that guides you into entering the review.

Perspectives

  • The screen you start on can be any perspective.
  • When you modify the view state of a perspective, you now get an option to create a new perspective from that configuration.

Keyboard focus and command palette

  • Command-K now includes filtering actions and going to the action's page.
  • Opening a goal, project or category from the command palette when in settings now correctly navigates.
  • Keyboard focus was lost when opening modals / dropdowns meaning that you couldn't apply keyboard shortcuts after pressing escape to close the modal or dropdown.
  • Moving a Kanban card to another column now opens the move menu off the card's own button.

Also in this release

  • Improved Icons have one of three sizes now for consistency across the app.
  • Improved Checklists in the text editor are now more compact.
  • Fixed The first line number of logbook entries lines up with the time.
  • Fixed Experiments can now be deleted.
  • Improved Failed sync writes now include more helpful error messages.
1.1.0

Perspectives, and a sync you can rely on

Saved views over your actions, offline writes that survive, and a guide on every screen.

Perspectives

A perspective is a saved way of reading your actions: a set of filters, an order, a grouping and a layout, kept under a name in the sidebar. Today, Weekly and All actions are perspectives now, and you can make your own.

Two panes can hold two different perspectives, so you can plan against the week in one and work from today in the other. The pane header names the one it is showing, so a split screen is never ambiguous.

  • Tune the list however you like, then save it as a perspective of your own.
  • Change what Today or Weekly shows, and reset either to its default whenever you want it back.
  • Hide a built-in you never use, and reorder your own.
  • Every perspective has its own link, so you can bookmark one or send it to yourself.

The old Today planner has been retired. Today is a perspective now, which means the way you tune it is the same way you tune everything else.

Your work survives a bad connection

The largest part of this release is invisible when it works. Writes made offline are kept and sent when the network returns, a write the server refuses is retried rather than dropped, and an edit made on two devices at once now resolves by which one you made last instead of which one arrived first.

  • A tab that fell behind rebuilds itself instead of showing stale rows.
  • Several tabs open at once coordinate, and one that stops working hands over to another.
  • A write is applied once even if it is sent twice, so a flaky connection cannot duplicate your work.
  • Anything the server could not accept is asked again the moment you are back online.

Learning the app

Every screen can now teach itself. Open a screen's guide from its header and it walks you through what the screen is for, on your own data, with the thing it is talking about ringed on the page. Guides hand over to the next one at the end, and you can ask for any of them again from Help.

  • Settings says what each feature does before you switch it on.
  • The morning review arrives with a set of power questions already written.
  • Reviews carry the wiki guidance for the section you are answering.

Reviews and habits

  • The evening review asks what went well before it asks what to correct, on the phone as well as the web.
  • The day's signals now sit inside the question they answer rather than in a panel beside it.
  • A habit captured offline shows immediately, and can be corrected.

Sirius Focus is live

The first public release: a planner built on outcomes rather than on a list of things to tick.

Most task apps are good at holding tasks and quiet about why any of them matter. Sirius Focus starts from the other end. You name the areas of your life you intend to keep well, say what a good result looks like in each, and only then decide what to do about it this week. The work stays attached to the reason for it.

This is the first public release. What follows is what it can do today.

Planning

  • Categories for the areas you keep, each with a vision and a standard you refuse to live below.
  • Goals and projects that hang off those areas, so a task can always be traced back to what it serves.
  • Actions with deadlines, time estimates, tags, people and an importance mark for the vital few.
  • An Inbox to capture into and a triage pass to empty it.

Doing the work

  • Filter, sort and group your actions, as a list or as a Kanban board with lanes you configure.
  • Two panes side by side, so you can plan in one and work in the other.
  • A calendar for events and series, and countdowns for the dates you are counting toward.
  • Habits, with streaks and value tracking, and experiments for the changes you are testing.

Looking back

  • Daily, morning and weekly reviews that ask real questions rather than showing a chart.
  • A logbook for what happened and what you made of it.
  • A wiki of guidance for each kind of thing you are defining.

Everywhere you are

Everything is stored locally first and synced to your other devices, so the app opens and keeps working with no network at all. There is a mobile app, and the web app installs as a desktop app if you want it in its own window.
